Geoffroy Buffière

Geoffroy Buffière, after having discovered many kinds of repertoire at the Professional Musical
Course of Notre-Dame de Paris, and the Paris Conservatoire (in early music, with Howard Crook and
Kenneth Weiss), specialized in opera, and joined the Centre National d’Art Lyrique (CNIPAL) in
Marseille, and lately the « Académie de l’Opéra Comique » in Paris.
His repertoire of concerts and recordings ranges from medieval and Renaissance polyphony -which
he performs with the Ensemble Clément Janequin (Dominique Visse), the Huelgas Ensemble (Paul
Van Nevel), and others- to contemporary works with, for example, the Ensemble InterContemporain
(Susanna Mälkki). He is particularly in demand for performance of Baroque repertoire with
conductors including William Christie, Emmanuelle Haïm, Richard Egarr, Masaaki Suzuki, Hervé
Niquet, Rinaldo Alessandrini, and Vincent Dumestre. He also gives recitals, notably with pianist Jeff
In addition to his concert activity, Geoffroy Buffière sings regularly opera in France (Paris Opera
Comique, Versailles Royal Opéra) and elsewhere in the world (Brooklyn Academy of Music,
Aldeburgh Festival, Edinburgh Festival), with stage directors such as Robert Wilson or Robert Carsen.
