FOCUS FRANCE AT STREET ART FESTIVAL

Chandigarh, the dream city of India’s first Prime Minister, Sh. Jawahar Lal Nehru, was planned by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. It is designed as a people-oriented city of sweeping boulevards, lakes, gardens and grand civic buildings, executed in his favourite material, reinforced concrete.Picturesquely located at the foothills of Shivaliks, it is known as one of the best experiments in urban planning and modern architecture in the twentieth century in India

GLOCAL PROVERBS
St+art will work for the first time in Chandigarh towards the creation of several artworks across the city realized by a collaboration between artists Hanif Kureshi and Lek and Sowat . The aim is to revive the diminishing tradition of Sign Painting in India. The artists will work on a series of proverbs from France and India, translating them into vibrant art pieces which will directly engage the audience in a universal manner. Proverbs are characteristic to individual cultures, yet they relate to everyone, as they are based on similarities rooted in everyday life. The chosen location could possibly be the Sector-17 Plaza, a central public area in the city
